Training Air Wing Five at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Florida

Training Air Wing FIVE is located 5 miles north of Milton, Florida on board Naval Air Station Whiting Field. The wing is comprised of three primary fixed-wing squadrons, flying the Beechcraft T-6B Texan II and three advanced helicopter squadrons, flying the TH-57B and C Sea Ranger and trains aviators from the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and allied nations.
TRAWING FIVE is responsible for an estimated 43 percent of the Chief of Naval Air Training Command’s total flight time and over 11 percent of Navy and Marine Corps’ flight time world-wide. Over 1,200 personnel complete their essential flight training here annually.

North Field is used solely by squadrons VT-2 “Doerbirds”, VT-3 “Red Knights” and VT-6 “Shooters” flying the T-6 Texan II for fixed-wing, primary flight training operations. Students from the United States Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Air Force (as well as exchange students from various allied nations) go through the T-6B Joint Primary Aircraft Training System syllabus.

South Field is utilized by HT-8 “Eightballers”, HT-18 “Vigilant Eagles” and HT-28 “Hellions” for United States Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and select NATO/Allied students in the Advanced Helicopter pipeline.
